😲 Northampton County officials are warning parents and families that a man posing as a Children, Youth and Family division caseworker is not a county employee.

The county’s Department of Human Services has received reports of someone knocking on doors, claiming to be a Children, Youth & Family (CYF) employee, and requesting to fingerprint the children in the home.

CYF caseworkers never take anyone’s fingerprints, the county said Wednesday in a news release.

At least one report was made to police in Northampton Borough, but a separate person told lehighvalleylive.com they made a similar report to Whitehall Township police about the same man.

The county department said it has no connection with the person or persons. All department caseworkers conducting home visits identify themselves to the homeowner, show their ID, explain that they’re from CYF division and present the resident with an official business card.

If a resident is at all apprehensive, they are given an option to speak to the caseworker’s supervisor, the county said.

A Whitehall woman said a man came to her home twice last week, once on Tuesday afternoon and again Saturday morning. The woman has a home surveillance video system, saw the man standing at her door and asked what he wanted.
