Why can't they fix it? They have the correct numbers now so remove/add applicable congressional seats and distribute the money accordingly. Seems acceptable to me.

They did fix it, to the benefit of the blue states.

The most annoying part of all of this, besides the fact that once again all errors went in one direction only, is that it happened under a Republican Administration and President..

If and when the next Republican President takes office, he/she needs to fire everyone. I mean everyone. Census Bureau Director? Fired. White House Groundskeeper? Fired. National Archives Director? Fired. US Attorneys? Fired. All of them. FBI Director? Gone. That's the way Democrats do it. We need to clean house in Washington and at the Federal Level, and install in their place normal Americans who love this country infinitely more then they love power and corruption. Also No more Federal Judge or Supreme Court Justice nominations with Yale or Harvard degrees. And finish building the damn wall. And this is just the start of what needs done.
