Pa. man shoots teen multiple times after having gun drawn on him: police

WILLIAMSPORT – A 16-year-old boy is facing charges as an adult following an exchange of gunfire in Williamsport that left him wounded.

City police have obtained an arrest warrant for Shamier James Gadson of Williamsport, charging him with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related counts.

He has not been arraigned because he is a patient at UPMC Williamsport with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, arm and leg. The hospital does not release patient conditions.

The exchange of gunfire occurred about 9:50 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of West Edwin Street, just west of downtown.

This is the city police version of what they believe was a robbery attempt:

An adult male was walking west on Edwin Street when two juveniles wearing dark clothing approached.

As one of the juveniles engaged the man in a conversation, the other pulled out a firearm and fired a shot at him. It missed.

The man drew a firearm and returned fire, striking Gadson who fled a short distance. The adult called 911 to report the shooting.

The investigating officer told a district judge when obtaining the arrest warrant that the juvenile’s gun jammed and the adult fired approximately 18 rounds.

The other charges against Gadson are simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and illegal possession of a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. No one else has been charged and the adult had a permit for his weapon, they said.https://www.pennlive.com/crime/2022/...im-police.html

Last i looked, i dont need a permit to own my weapon. kind of tired of reading statements like this, rather than the truth that should read “the adult had a permit to carry his weapon. Amazing how two words can Change the entire context of the sentence to reflect the truth.
