Default Smith & Wesson Price Cut on M&P9 Shield Plus Micro Compact

According to the Guns.com website Smith and Wesson is slashing the price of it's M&P9 Shield Plus micro compact 9mm by $134.00. SW says it's absorbing the costs so that people can buy them during the inflation crisis. I suspect the real reasons are they are sitting on a pile of these, there is a gun buying slump, and they are in competition with Sig with their 365 and the Springfield Hellcat. In any event if you are in the market for a M&P9 Shield Plus micro compact 9mm I suggest making sure the price reflects the discount. Gun shops will likely try to liquidate what they bought for the original price without this price cut.

Smith & Wesson this week announced, that rather than bump up prices, they would rather absorb costs to make sure responsible Americans don't have to compromise when it comes to peace of mind.

"Prices are increasing on just about everything these days – housing, food, gas – and there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon," said S&W, going on to explain the 150-year-old company that has been outspoken on the Second Amendment lately is, "committed to serving and empowering Americans, no matter what. During these difficult economic times, we’ve decided to make a change."

The change is slicing the cost on the company's popular M&P9 Shield Plus micro compact 9mm, one of its most popular concealed carry series. As an example of the savings, the standard model, which has a retail price of $533, now runs $399.
Also, that's not after a rebate program or jumping through some pre-certification because you once worked as a first responder for a minute, the price is the price. Boom.

Far from being a clearance sale on an old model, the Shield Plus was just introduced last year in both standard and Performance Center models. Using 10- and 13-round mags while keeping the same traditional frame – and therefore holster – size as the legacy Shields, other new additions are an updated and optimized grip texture and redesigned trigger. S&W says the flat-face trigger will give users a consistent trigger finger placement allowing for more accurate and repeatable shooting, while the new stippling on the grip texture allows the user to manage recoil, keep a firm grip, and not irritate the skin while carrying concealed.

"We’re absorbing costs and passing along a lower price to help carry some of the burden because we don’t want people to have to compromise when it comes to quality and personal security," said Smith in a statement emailed to Guns.com. "Dedicated to your freedom, equality, and security. These are still our guiding principles after nearly two centuries of making firearms. We proudly stand with the rights of Americans to legally own a firearm, and so we’re offering up our best, at a more affordable price."

Shield plus for $399 is a steal. If that would have been a few weeks ago, I would have one

Too lazy to look if it's still in stock but Family Firearms has the optics ready Shield plus kit (with night sights) with FIVE mags, backpack, and first aid kit for $409. Just have to make an account and do the email quote thing. That's an amazing deal. I'd buy if I didn't already have a Shield Plus. If they had that deal on the 4 in barreled version I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

It's the only SKU to buy IMO... You know it's also optic cut and night sights, right?

They had the rebate recently, but this is a new low.

Aware of the optics cut. Wasn't aware of the night sights. I've been wanting to try optics on a pistol so this will be my first foray into that world.

I have a P365 that I was considering sending out to have the slide milled. This deal on the Smith though is just too good

Yup and the good night sights .... Bright orange front, almost blacked out rear. Not just the standard 3 dot tritium ones they also have.

I am merely presenting the facts the 'bugout' SKU is just a stupid good value.

Now the bad... The trigger safety on mine had to be sanded and I spent 10 minutes doing it. The 'block' that hits the frame and stops the trigger just needed the edges rounded ever so slightly so it wouldn't get hung up if my finger placement on the blade safety wasn't perfect. Used 600 and then 1000 grit I think in a tiny strip threaded behind the blocking mechanism. Worked perfectly. So if you don't have 10 minutes and $1 worth of sand paper, keep looking

I think this was only necessary because my natural finger placement is near the top of the trigger and blade safety. Most probably won't have this issue, but if so it's easy to tune.

I'm currently in the market for one of these, but I can't find confirmation of this price drop anywhere except guns.com - there's nothing on the S&W web site about a price drop, and they still have it listed at $499 for the basic SKU. My LGS has it for $469.

The $399 price is available at guns.com, and I'm not opposed to buying from them, but I'd rather support the local guy if this price drop is real. Or is this just a guns.com marketing gimmick?
