Default Question about "Pistol Caliber Carbines"

Lately I'm more PCCs in our club "Hybrid Action Pistol/IDPA" matches. But I notice among the guys using the Ruger PCC keeping magazines seated seems to be a problem! I've seen many just drop out of the mag well without warning. Is there a weakness in the conversion for "Glock magazines" or s the problem "Glock compatible magazines" made by other manufacturers?

I've always liked the idea of having a carbine and pistol or revolver in matching caliber. To that end I've a S&W Model 627 paired with a Winchester Model 1892. A Ruger PCC paired with Glock 17 would be a good combo! But NOT if mags don't stay seated!

    Whatcha think?

Ive got a Stribog SP9A3 and love it. You can get different lowers for it that accept the Sig Evo mags or Glock mags. Never had any issues with the stock mags personally, but if you want cross platform compatibility, you can do it.

I have a Extar EP 9. It takes Glock magazines and I love it. Never an issue.

No problem in either of my Ruger PCCs fitted for Glock magazines, but I use only Glock-made magazines.

My PC Carbine is fine with ETS and Magpul mags. Are these guys loading the mags to capacity? maybe they are having issues on a closed bolt?

My Henry Big Boy Steel .44 mag and my .44 mag Taurus Tracker don't seem to have any problems with their magazines...

I'm going to amend my previous statement. When I had the ETS big sticks they seemed fine. I run the ETS 17-rounders for Steel Challenge and last night I ran some tests and found that even empty on a locked-back bolt they took some pressure to seat. Obviously this small sample is not indicative one way or another. I did the same test with my Magpul mags and they went in fine, engaged the mag release fine and dropped free. The only difference is that the Magpuls feel loose whereas the ETS mags are more secure. The only OEM Glock mag I own is a big stick with a Goliath extension and it seats just fine as well.

How many of those people running Ruger PC Carbines in competition also have giant mag release buttons? I added a larger mag release and found myself bumping it all the fucking time. So I altered my way of shooting the rifle, and now I don't drop mags anymore.
