    Default Ejection issue, AR

    0a645a725667df11.jpg

This is a funny Monday meme... but what would cause this?

Because it happened to me twice yesterday.

2 different brands of ammo. Happened with both, so likely not an ammo issue (though it's possible)

In both cases the spent casing fully extracted from the chamber and the BCG came back far enough to cycle the next round. But the spent casing just didn't eject outward and clear the area in time for the new round to cleanly push into the chamber.

I was shooting with a friend and both times the friend was shooting it. So it COULD be user error but hell if I can figure out what the shooter could have done wrong to cause that.

I loaded all the magazines. Not like the friend was loading his wrong.

I have never had this happen when firing this rifle. But my friend had it happen twice in 30 rounds. That is the only reason I will entertain user error.

It wasn't rapid fire. Each round had plenty of time to cycle properly.

BCG was running wet. I even reoiled it after the first jam to make sure and then it happened again 5 minutes later.

Rifle was cleaned well a few days earlier.

    They are brand new mags.

Plus I don't think it's a feeding issue. The 2nd round was grabbed by the bcg just fine and pushed into the chamber. But the ejecting round wasn't out of the way yet.

Keep in mind the photo above is not mine. Mine just looked a lot like this. EXCEPT that the bcg wasn't to the rear. The bcg was pushed forward while cycling the next round. It just got stuck halfway in.

I was having an issue like this with one of mine.. I changed the BCG from another rifle and it worked fine.. + that BCG worked fine in the other rifle.. no clue why.

And this was after trying a number of different things to"fix" it

Is there an AR equivalent to limp wristing?

Not holding it quite tight enough or something like that...

    Possible causes:

    1) Weak /broken extractor spring (why folks use stiffer springs or those tiny O-rings)
    2) Weak / broken ejector spring
    3) Dirty/sticking ejector plunger
    4) Undergassed
    5) Overgassed

    Somewhere in there, put:

    6) Operator not firmly holding the weapon / "limp shouldering".

The first thing Id do at bare minimum is remove the extractor and ejector and inspect & clean the pockets & springs perhaps replace them and or the springs, reassemble and test fire and go from there. Did you try to run a new mag yourself to eliminate the mag/user error questions ?

I like the limp shouldering issue. Try placing the butt against something stable.

I would think if it was a thing broken in the extractor that it would cause the error every single time or close to it. Same with gas problems. Not 2 out of 60 shots. Agree or not?

About the limp shouldering..... are you serious? Or kidding around? Because the shooter was a new shooter. (To AR's anyway) And both times this happened he was seated and firing off a rest. Could easily have not being pressing tight to his shoulder. I wasn't looking that closely.

You thinking the recoil made the rifle jump back so the ejection port moved while the spent casing was trying to eject?

    I would buy that.

In the previous thousand rounds or so I have put through this since I got it it only had feed problems when brand new during a break in phase. After the first 75 rounds or so it has run like a dream.
