Only ever killed one ground hog with a vehicle, my 72 BSA 650 Lightening, dang near killed me too.
Shot hundreds of GHs with 22long target ammo.

I usually use groundhogs as deer season practice, but I have shot a few with a .22 using Mini Mags. Most important than anything else is finding what your gun likes, which is also the most expensive part. I had a Savage that was a tack driver with copper plated rounds, but would toss unplated lead in a 2' circle. But funny enough, if I used unplated lead .22 shorts, the accuracy came back. Shorts are great for in town... lol
