Re: Groundhog hunting with a .22
To the OP, I use CCI standard in a 10/22 with a can, or a Marlin bolt action with the same can. Bit are super accurate and decent shots can be made out to 140 if you know the drop. The Marlin wears a Burris drop tine 4.5-14 and is good to the 140 mark. The 10/22 has a PSA ACCS fixed 6 power set up for 22lr trajectories. I*ve hit steel targets out to 200 yards, but rarely go further than 100 for hogs. Most, hit well, drop, but some make it back to the hole. Both guns are quiet enough not to scare the cows, or the neighbors. Waiting sucks, but when you get it**you*ll get more!

Probably pretty even on how many dropped, and how many made it back to their hole on a .22 rimfire, open sights.
Bad shot usually not, old eyes not what they used to be definitely. Use peep site and now limit myself to 50 yds. or so.
Going longer I'll use the 22/250 with scope. It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Well, with the way things are going nowadays they just might identify as beaver. Hell and with the orange paint they*d look alike some of the 2 legged beavers running around here. You can find lots of them at Democrat rallies, orange hair, snare wires through their nose, ears, eyelids, and other parts I don*t want to see. Scary looking damn things they are.

Do any of you eat these things? I have heard from a few people over the years that grass fed groundhog is delicious.
I have never even considered it.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

LOL I once had an older g/f, who came from a poor background and her 80 yo or so mother was living with her. I took one out and ol' ma dressed 'er out like she just dun 'em up all last week. Tossed 'er in a crockpot with some stewed tomaters and off we went. It wasn't bad but the thought of it kind of ruined it. If I was told it was rabbit, I might have enjoyed it. 'twas a spring taken and ma said that they're meatier later in the season.
And I worked with a guy who asked me what I was doing with the ones I was taking out of my garden. I'd tell yas what color he was but that would be raciss.Gender confusion is a mental illness
