I've come to the conclusion that I would probably not survive a violent encounter of any kind so I carry a ppk or a s&w 36. At least I can go out in style.

Over the years I*ve been through three holsters and two hogue grips (Fist was by far the best, even better than Alessi). 8+1 and a spare mag is enough for me; 17 rounds and I*m out. I*ve shot Shields, 365, MP9c, G2C, LCP, etc and I still like the heft and quick recovery of a metal frame. The hellcat pro has me intrigued though, I may need to find one local to try. I have become a huge fan of red dots as my eyes age. I*ve got them on a few ruger target pistols, and I could see a mini on a Hellcat being a viable option.
You may be stuck in the 90's but I'm stuck in the 1930's. I carry a HiPower. Don't think that people carrying a HiPower or 1911 feel like their gun is outdated.

I'm boring. I have most of the double stack Glock 9mm models that are available, but my 26 gets the nod.

Can use massive stick mags if I desire, fits in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster in standard 10+1, can carry it with a 19 or 17 mag for a little extra grip if I carry it IWB or OWB...

And most importantly, I can hit with it reliably. I like my others, don't get me wrong, and sometimes I even do carry a 19, 17, heck even my 34... but those times are pretty rare.

My P365 Will do. Im 79 years old and due to many hrs I shoot better than most. I may not survive but some young dumb thug wont enjoy 79 years.

I like the Ruger LC 9 for Summer. Fits in pocket and doesn't pull my pants down. Winter carry is .45.

What kind of self defense circumstance do you see at 50 yards? Maybe someone with a rifle, or a skilled handgun shooter? Fifty yards is half a football field.

Most self defense is going to be from them being able to touch you to about fifteen to twenty feet away.

I have simulated stress at the range. I will exercise to close to exhaustion, then twirl around a little bit. Grab the handgun and then fire. My groups grow about four times in span. I practice quite a bit.
