    Default PICS and research

I was transferring a pistol on Saturday and the background check went into research. I have no criminal history or any pending legal things. I usually pass the PICS check in a few minutes. The dealer said that he's been getting an unusual amount of people going to research lately and that the state has been using most of the 15 days they are allowed to before clearing the person. Mine came back yesterday and it's for a pistol I don't care much about so it's not a big deal to me, just thought I'd throw this information out there in case others are seeing this happen too.

I bought a handgun at Tanners on Monday morning and it went through in less than 10 mins. Most times it takes a minimum of 2 hours for my Pics to come back..

An hour is the fastest it has taken me. Once I had to come back the next day to complete a sale.

"Research" has become quite common, as have 2 hour response times. Rumor is they are short staffed, so if it's not an auto approval and needs to be followed up on, it is put in a que, and when someone gets to it, they get to it.

My suggestion...go as early in the morning as possible before the back log begins.

Last time I went through it the store manager told me the state staffs 2 guys to monitor PICS.

But it should have like 10.

The governor is required to staff the PICS office. But the law doesn't say how many people he has to use. So he does the minimum specifically to create a log jam.

And he looks like a penis with glasses. But that is neither here nor there.

My PICS checks for the last year have been hours long, except for one(10min). One of those long ones came back AFTER the FFL closed shop for the day. They called me the next morning to come finish paperwork and such.

The kid's PICS for his LTCF went to the next day.

i guess ive been lucky. the last couple of time PICS has only taken 10 mins at the most. i wouldnt be surprised if the delays get longer though due to the push for gun control by dems. they will reduce funds and push for delays as long as possible.

By chance have your purchases been in the morning?.. I have heard that the morning is faster and they get backed up as the day goes on* also, during big shows they seem to get really slow.

PICS may be getting a lot of Patels and Singhs. Very difficult to differentiate.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
