After a bit of research, it seems that I can get my MD ccw in about 2 weeks, and being former military, i don't have to take the stupid 16 our class, just get prints done and the rest is online. They'll mail it to me after that.

Only if you go there via NJ.

I am in this camp and I was aghast when the douche who tossed me out of Kathy Barnette's election gala proudly told me how he always leaves his weapons (including his AR-15) in his car 100% of the time.

I have to go there tomorrow, so I'll see if i can swing by a police barracks that does the fingerprint portion. Apparently after that they just give you a code and you enter the code online. There is a required 16 hour training course, but if you're LE, military, or veteran, you can skip the class.

I don't leave it in the glove box, i have a gun safe hidden from view. I don't like the idea of my firearm not secured off my body. I don't get people who put them in gym bags and backpacks that leave them around.

2 weeks turn around won’t be happening. Someone just got theirs in 25 days, but they were right at the beginning of the recent SCOTUS ruling that removed the “good and substantial” requirement. There have since been several thousand applications submitted to a department not used to handling that kind of traffic. The norm before was within 90 days. It will be interesting to see how long things take moving forward. Good luck.

I'd be shocked if they get it to you in 2 weeks

You have 72 hours to complete and submit the online app after you do prints. (Because in Maryland your fingerprints apparently change or go bad or something)

And you need to upload passport photos and your DD-214. And you need 3 references for which you need to list their places of employment. So make sure you have all that handy as well or you might miss your 72 hours window to submit everything after the prints.

And yes.... it is all done purposely to make it difficult
