Re: Why do you think PA resists allowing semi auto rifles for deer hunting?
I'm not sure whether you intend to say that hunting large game with a semi-auto is inherently frivolous or if you're just debating that guy's point, but my interest in firearms began by collecting range toys, almost all of which were semi-automatic. In order to hunt, I was required to purchase a new gun, which can run several hundred dollars, despite having a semi-automatic .308 and 6.5 Grendel that were up to the task. IMO, a perfectly non-frivolous reason to hunt with semi-auto's is "I have a semi-auto and I don't have a manual action." A price barrier of several hundred dollars is not small for a lot of people. You can restrict mag capacities to as low as a single round if you want to assuage concerns about people being dumbasses, but to blanket ban an entire class of firearm that is near-universally allowed for hunting across the country over public safety concerns that don't bear out in the data doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

How about semi-auto for resident license holders only?
