It's all one gun charge, so if you already have an illegal assault weapon why not toss a stock on it and drill the third hole?

McConnell is power hungry and he remembers how the last ban flipped Congress to Republican control for over a decade. I would not be surprised if he allows it onto the floor for a vote without a filibuster and it gets passed 50-50 with Harris as the tiebreaker. Then he can claim that Republicans did not support the ban and have it for an election issue in 22 and 24. Perhaps he will even "negotiate" a compromise with Schumer to insert very weak and narrow grandfather clause of some sort

If you recall, Arlen Specter did the same thing with the 90's ban. He could have buried it in committee and it would have never seen the light of day, but he didn't, and republican leaders in the Senate allowed it onto the floor for a vote, and it passed.

McConnell doesn't give a crap about the 2nd Amendment,

....and you can be sure this new law will not have a sunset provision.

The NRA has been totally silent on this issue, so has Fox News and Conservative radio and podcasts for the most part. They should have 2A rights advocate guests and stories on every day beating the drums for our freedoms. I got a fundraising call from the NRA the other day and the woman was talking about some proposed 1,000 percent tax on rifle purchases. Not one mention of the pending ban legislation. They are AWOL and everyone is noticing. I joined the GOA they are our only hope right now along with SCOTUS I suppose. God Bless Donald Trump for his 3 Justice picks.

she was talking about HR 8051. it would add a 1000% excise tax on large capacity ammunition feeding devices and semiautomatic "assault weapons". to many people just assume that the assault weapons bill will be dead in senate. We need to push hard to remind senators not to vote for any of these bills.

part of the concern with HR8051 is since it is a tax based bill it can be introduced via the reconciliation process and would only need 50 votes to pass.

Although the levying of taxes falls solely within the scope of Congress and the tool of reconciliation would allow passage by a vote of 50+1, a 1000% tax would render firearms financially unattainable by most standards.

This would effectively be be viewed as a ban that is only overcome by financial class status. The current make-up of SCOTUS would certainly rule that as an infringement

    Indeed...

The "dem ruling class" should be out filling potholes or some other useful task.

The 'D(umb) ruling class' should be USED to fill the potholes! And even then they'd be worthless.
Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government.
