Back on topic. I bought my first off duty gun in January 1986. A Smith & Wesson Model 66. 2 1/2 Stainless 357 Revolver. Thought it was great. Could load magnum rounds in it, which would spit fire out of the barrel or 38 special for plinking.

I haven*t carried that gun since about 1991. Between a Walter PPKs and Glocks, I saw no reason. To each their own though.

I am sure BMWs are. And expensive. Sort of like women. You want a high performing, sexy, attractive one, it*s gonna cost you.

Why not a snubnose speed six? Slightly smaller and lighter than a gp100 but the same manual of arms that you're used to.

^^^^^ My thoughts also, look for a short barrel Security Six, Police Service Six or a Speed Six in .357 Mag. They might be hard to find but they can be found and as said, the ergonomics will be very similar to a SP101.

😂 i have a few glocks and I like them except for a certain .40 caliber model, what a waste of money that was. I don’t even like thinking about that purchase.

Does it have to be .357 magnum? What about .327 magnum? You can get a Ruger LCR/LCRx in .327 mag that holds 6 rounds. Ammo is available and it has a decent punch behind it.

That’s an interesting round, thanks for posting!

I probably should have mentioned in the OP that this gun is for when we’re up the mountains or out walking the pup locally. My main concern here is with my 7 month old pup who can’t defend himself yet so I like the safety of a heavy double action trigger incase I have to separate dogs or maybe get ahold of my dog while I deal with the other one. Like I said earlier, the 3” .357 revolver fits me so perfectly that I barely know it’s there and has enough behind it for adequate woods protection here in Pa.

I considered the Sig Legion DA/SA in 10mm with 8rd capacity but too pricey for what I need it for amd besides, if I’m going full-size I have a Glock20 for up the mountains as well but that gets heavy on day hikes especially with extra mags so that’s mainly for around camp or stationary in the van.

For around the camp fire we go with the Smith & Wesson 686 (we really like revolvers here) my Fiancé carriers an HK P30 cause she’s fancy 🤣
