    Default Cowboy Guns

Well I have to say my last three purchases are from the 'old school'. I have been in an 'old time' frame of mind so I just had to buy these:

At the top (sorry for the sucky pics) is an IAC repo of the famous Winchester model 87 12 ga. lever action shotgun. I have been looking for one of these for over a year so when I found one at the Mt. Bethel show last month, new in the box, I HAD to buy it!

Next (lower left) is a perfect Ruger "single six" that was found with both cylinders (22 and 22 mag) after the Eastern shoot thanks to my dear friend Pennsy. It even came with the original box for the cylinder (wrapped lovingly in a satin pouch).

Last is an amazing cap and ball 44 cal repo weapon, its an 1851 Colt Navy Revolver .. brand spanking new in the box courtesy of 426Matt here on the forum.

One more pic (wish I could get better ones, sorry):

Man I do love them 'old time' weapons!

Nice! I am going to buy a Single Six soon and that is the one I want. Simple, no frills, and the 2 cylinders.

Someone mentioned cowboy guns, you knew I'd be here.

Great guns. That cap and ball revolver will prove to be more fun than imagined. What's not to love about a lever action 12 gauge?

    Nice!

As far as getting better pictures, you can make a light box for the price of a free cardboard box and some dollar store tissue paper and poster board.
    Light Box

All you have to do is put the subject in good light. Try shooting outside on an overcast day, set up a reflector of some sort (could be a plain white sheet) to help illuminate the subject.

    holy cow are C&B's fun.
there is a cloud of smoke, a ball of fire, alot of noise and a large hole down range.
there's nothing like the smell of black powder on a cool morning....or sunny afternoon.......or balmy evening......or well whenever actually.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

    Very nice guns...
I love lever action rifles, I have to get me one.
And that Navy Colt is a thing of beauty.
    Have fun, and be safe.

the colts and their clones can get funny about spent caps.
it's best to "gun fighter" them.
    discharge a cylinder.
when cocking for the next shot, let the wrist rotate so the barrel is nearly verticle. so when the cylinder rotates the spent cap falls more to the ground and less in to the action.

Very nice "old school" setup. I will have to post up my Winchester 1894 from 1900, gotta love the old school stuff.
