    Default Carrying Permits and Moving

I have had a permit for many years in Montgomery County. There is a possibility I will be re-locating to Lancaster County. Does anyone know if, as a current permit holder, Lancaster will, in effect let me just transfer my permit for a fee; or if they will treat me as a new applicant who has never had a permit.

PS. Is the Lancaster Sheriff gun friendly or not?

    Thank you

There is no such thing as "transferring" a LTCF. ...not between counties, nor between states.

Your LTCF is valid until it expires or is revoked. There really is no need to even change the address on it.

With you moving to a different county, it would be safe to assume that the issuing sheriff(MontCo) may not want to put your new address in Lancaster on a LTCF that he issued(auditing issues, etc, ??) for an address change. At most, he may just change the address in the system for mailing out renewal notices - which you would then renew at your new county sheriff.

BTW - there really isn't a "renewal" in PA. New/Renew is the same process, same requirements, same fee - just a different box is checked, which also really doesn't matter.

Legally and technically - you could move to each of the 67 counties in PA in a given year and apply for a LTCF from each as you reside there - all would be valid.
