September 12 2022 Harrisburg 2A Rally

BVRPC and the Moonies didn't take their usual bus loads of people last year due to some dust up with Metcalfe. Or at least that's what I heard day of.

BVRPC hasn't organized a bus for the rally since before my grandmother died (2005). I can tell you for certain that we are not boycotting the Rally, and didn't boycott it last year. The Beaver County Sportsmen's Conservation League has been organizing buses for over a decade and recently decided to spend their money on different advocacy methods that they think will get them more bang for their buck. I'm not sure they are right, but it's their money.

There may have been some ego issues involved. That has historically been a source of strife between the politicians, state advocacy groups and local advocacy groups. It's too bad that, for some people, getting credit is more important than getting results. We would do better to work on having a "big tent" instead of focusing on who gets credit or who will get their picture in the media because they brought a scary black gun.

Anyway, BCSCL carried the freight for the Rally for a long time, with Beaver County generating 25% - 50% of the attendance for years. Maybe it's time for some other group to step up?

I'm glad we have these rallies, but they always seem like a clusterfunk of PR/organization. Last time I was at rallies in 2019, both Harrisburg and DC, suffered the same issue of poor publicity. I just heard about this one a little over a week ago, by happenstance. There's a ton of young 2A folks who have no idea about this. Maybe I in particular had my blinders on, but there needs to be a wider social media push, just my 2 cents.
