Gun refinishing/ rust removal
I inherited a Dan Wesson 357 that is in poor shape. I'd like to get it restored to its former glory. Does anyone have any experience having this done? Looking for suggestions.thanks

Re: Gun refinishing/ rust removal
You've got everything from from "steel-wool-and-oil DIY removal", to professional rust removal and new surface treatment, to "you're SOL because the integrity is compromised".
Most guns land somewhere between the first and second points unless they were actively in water or on a wet surface. Professional work is not cheap, and usually doesnt do a lot to enhance the value once the original finish is lost. Doesnt mean there arent times where it make sense to do it, but overall, you're often better getting the rust off and just oiling it.

Send it to s&w and have them refinish it for around $250

I refinished a model 10 , I bead blasted it then used cold blue on it. It turned out OK bit I wouldn't suggest it for anything worth money

Try soaking it in Kroil .
Lower your expectations to zero and you'll never be disappointed.
