    Default Magneeto speed chronograph

I've used a Caldwell chrony for quite some time with mixed results.
There are times it would simply not read.
Other times it worked just fine.
On windy days, it would occasionally blow over.

I tried to line up the barrel, chrony, target to be pretty close in line and also adjusted the elevation so the bullet would pass over the chrony and under the sun shade.

I'd have to adjust distance from the barrel as well.

Finally, I decided to get a Magneeto speed barrel mounted chrony.
I got the cheaper Sporter model at about $189 as opposed to the V3 ( ?) Model at 100 more ( designed I guess to fit suppressors).

This chrony has not missed a reading.
I like it except for how it attaches to the barrel.
The strap tightens and another knob further tightens it.

One thing I did not notice is that with my 3 magnum rifles, a combination of barrel taper and heavy recoil causes the device to move toward the muzzle after many shots.

My Rem 700 in 7mm mag has comp cutouts and as the chrony strap moved forward, the muzzle blast blew part of the strap apart. Not completely and it was still usable but I ordered a new one for $10 with free shipping. My bad.

It didn't mount on my Henry due to the mag tube under the barrel.
I was able to take the mount apart, slide the strap between the bbl and tube and it worked although mounted sideways on the barrel.

It mounted on.my Ruger Redhawk without issue.

    It read a range of about 900 fps ( .44) to over 3300 ( .300 WM).

All in all, I'm happy with it.

What chronys are you guys using ?
Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

I never used any other chrono's so I cannot compare and I am confident that I am still learning on this. I just knew that I wanted something that had about no chance of being shot.

I downloaded it but don't use it much. It seems to me that it is lacking...and that is being kind, too kind. OK, as far as I'm concerned, it sucks.

I need to figure out how to download the data into a spreadsheet or something. Is there a PC program for it that does that for us?

I used a Caldwell and because I'm such a good shot I accidentally shot it right in the display.
Then I got a magnetospeed sporter and I agree it's fantastic as long as you have a location to mount it.
Then I got a labradar and some times it likes me and sometimes it doesn't. It's a fantastic device once you are smarter than it is

I just write it down in a notebook. I'm a pencil and paper kind of guy.

That is what I did when I got home but I was thinking how nice it would be if I could connect it to my laptop and save it in a file.
