This is how Inspector Clouseau was always so cool under pressure, he had Cato attack him at random times.

Disclaimer: Some of that confidence may come from the fact that I'm a mediocre shot with a handgun.
Unfortunately I just had to sell my arsenal sam7sf to pay some bills. Would a cheap shotgun be a good idea?

IMO, absolutely. Sad to hear you had to sell it, but I keep a cheapo shotgun next to my bedside anyway instead of my AK. Just get something with a legally short barrel, 18 or 20 inches.

Mopeds are lame. Scooters are cool. But not the Vino. Too fucking small.

Train with a timer, go to various pistol competitions. Adrenaline dumps like a USPSA or IDPA match can help. Your shooting under a timed and scored event. Might help out a bit getting used to it.

After 3 years of limited event shooting i dont get nearly the dump as i did when i first started.

Long gun is a good idea. But if you're going cheap shotgun (that is good enough for HD) it will be a pump. That will take a good amount of practice because the most common malfunction with a pump (and many firearms, frankly) is user error. But a Mossberg 590 is a good start.

I agree with competitions to gain confidence and proficiency.

Also make a plan and practice it. Have your wife say a code word that puts you into action, randomly. Obviously what you do exactly is situation dependent. Do any kids need to be retrieved or can you hunker down with a blaster and call the cops?

What do mopeds and fat chicks have in common? They're both fun to ride so long as your friends don't see you on them!

Thank you Ron. I was coming to say this. Even when things bump in the night I don’t get so hopped up. And it’s largely due to training with Andrenaline flowing
