Default Single Shot Barrett M99 comes home this weekend

As much as I will miss my Armalite AR-50 single shot bolt action, I feel like I traded it in for the Barrett version, A single shot bolt action, I kind of felt that the portability of the AR-50 was becoming a bit more than I wanted, I had to take the stock off to get into a 5' case and in the case it was over 55 pounds, Assembled it was also heavy to hump around, The Barrett fits in the same basic case without being disassembled and weighs a lot less, So I feel like I traded portability for some accuracy, Im still thinking I need to buy my AR-50 back from the GS, He will hold it for a few months and let me get it back if I cry too much over the next week,
The Barrett came from a guy I know and he shot ONE single round and gave me the 9 remaining rounds, Even came with the original tags, Books, Cardboard box and purchase paperwork.
    PS,
Ive never sold a gun but I couldn't make the $$ make sense at this time to just buy the Barrett without trading something in,
    Ugh...

The portability aspect is interesting. Do you shoot yours enough to have that factor? I’m guessing so because you did.

My ba-50 is in the same boat. Need to break it down and take the bipod off etc.

Nice acquisition. Barrett runs a long range class, that I recommend for anyone. You can rent their gun for the class and get the ammo from them too. It makes travel nice and they use good, accurate ammo for not too high of a price. You don't even need to own a Barrett and I'd call it an experience of a lifetime.

I guess I am getting older and while I liked to take out the AR-50 a few times a year, It was heavy, Too tall for the safe unless taken apart and was large in the car, The Barrett fits in the case, In the safe, a tad more than 10 pounds less weight and will most likely hold its value better, While I am sure that the AR-50 is more accurate at 1000 yards, The Barrett is no slouch either.
Im going shooting tomorrow with a neighbor and Ill hand him a few rounds after were at the range a bit and wait for him to look at me Funny, Then Ill fetch the Barrett from the car and let him get happy.
If you can't share, Its just not worth owning,
Aside, Ive seen the movie Tremors, Kinda NEED a 50 around the house!
