Saving Beans and Rice

In my 80s thinking not much chance of surviving .

Maaaann... screw the beans and rice.
I have so much canned beef, canned ground beef, canned chicken, and tuna now that I'll be eating good for a while.
Not to mention the pasta and jars of sauce - probably could live on pasta alone for 3 months.

I have plenty of beans in the form of canned chili.
Once the 4 boxes of Uncle Ben's is used up, "Oh well" - I'm not a fan of rice anyway. I can't understand how people can live off that stuff.

They don't. You must have other sources of nutrition than washed bleached white rice. You will get Beriberi (thiamin deficiency) if that's all you eat. Brown rice is a different story. It still contains all the vitamins and nutrients that rice can provide. You still need other nutritional input than just brown rice.
