Default Any love or hate for the Browning BLR?

Just put $400 down in a BLR in 308 caliber. Beautiful gun! I had one years ago and I always regretted selling it. I rarely see these guns for sale, so when I saw it locally for $800, I put half the money down. Looking forward to having it in the woods with me for deer season.
What are your thoughts on this gun? Experience, input, pros and cons are welcome.
    Thanks in advance!

I like that they are magazine fed, you don't have to cycle each round through the action to unload. I also like that the trigger moves with the lever, no way to pinch a finger on a fast follow up shot if needed and you picked a good short action cartridge.
I'm sure you will be happy with your BLR.

I hate that glossy finish for hunting but it looks good in the rifle rack.

I’ve always been a fan of lever action 308 rifles. My grandpa had a Winchester 88 that my cousin inherited. I always had interest in lever 308 rifles!

No experience with a BLR but I’ve got a Sako Finnwolf so I am a fan the box magazine, lever action, design.

Love them. And great buy at 800. I have a 223 and 308 BLR.

Yeah I thought 800 was a good price, but I wasn’t sure. Can’t wait to own it!

I've seen 308's as high as 1500. Although 1200 seems to be the norm around the west side.

I'm a levergun superfan, and I like the BLR. It is unique among leverguns because the bolt is gear driven, and the bolt has unparalleled camming force when chambering and extracting either a cartridge or a spent case. An arc section gear rack on the top of the lever engages a small diameter pinion gear that is part of a larger gear that engages a gear rack in the underside of the bolt. It's like a mini two-stage arbor press in both directions:

I took one in about 30-35 yrs ago, a 308, that had the poly finish peeling off in sheets. I finished removing the poly one postage stamp at a time using the edge of a credit card. The wood was baby butt smooth, and I applied a few coats of oil and that's all it needed for a finish. Disassembled and cleaned and lubed the internal bits and took a nice big doe with it that fall. An acquaintance fell in love with it and the furniture on it, and offered stupid $$$ for it. I quadrupled my investment, so I let it go. I don't regret the sale, and I won't buy another even at a low, low price but I admire the hell out of the design, and what I consider to be the epitome of a thoroughly modernized levergun.
