What is the gun you're shooting? And have you tried something like Underwood Xtreme Defender or Liberty Civil Defense?

LCP Max. Nope haven't tried those designs yet.

With 380s, I wouldn't really worry about I being ball, if that's what works. As others said, expansion and penetration are marginal anyway.

But my LCP does like Hydra Shoks, if that helps at all.

I just bought an LCP Max a couple of weeks ago. Mine runs both Underwood Xtreme Defender and Liberty Civil Defense. One issue I had initially was a few occasions where the slide wouldn't go into battery completely with any ammo. So I ran a couple hundred rounds of fmj ball through it and the problem has gone away.

If your gun still doesn't run with those two rounds, send it back to Ruger and they will fix the problem.

I'd call Ruger, there shouldn't be a modern pistol that won't feed HP rounds.

    Wow, Lcp Max.
That thing should eat most anything. I was thinking you had an old Sterling or something that was manufactured before the modern crop of defensive rounds. Very surprising it's a modern gun. Something has got to be up with it or the mags.

I have not, but also I can't see any imperfections at all. Not mirror smooth, but it looks fine with the naked eye.

Agreed, but it actually just came back from Ruger. The slide started locking with a full mag so I sent it in thinking the slide lock/spring was bad. They replaced those plus the entire slide and barrel (lots of early Maxes had tolerance issues, so I've seen). So 1) they went over it and upgraded all parts to the newest in-spec versions 2) they tested it with 30 rounds of Winchester flat nose 3) I'm growing weary of dealing with it even though it really does fit a niche very well.

I don't think Ruger would tell me to pound sand, but they may say there's nothing they can do because it test fired appropriately. I guess I have to deal with the service process again or just cut and run back to my 442 performance center which doesn't have to feed anything...

    I think we're done here.
