Yes you can keep it unloaded (chamber and tube) with shells in the side saddle. This meets Pennsylvania's definition of unloaded.
The Shockwave SPX is a "other firearm" under Federal law, and a "firearm" under PA law.

The normal SPX is a shotgun.

My truck ain't worth as much as all that. I'd need to put in 10K+ worth of hardening to feel safe leaving that rig unattended, just so it would be there when I needed it.

Nah, I'd probably just go with a 7-8" AR pistol in 223 Wylde if I had a truck gun.

    YMMV
    etc...

    P.S. - Funny, yes
I believe that he was pointing out the irony of the fact that something as "benign" as a single shot .410 is a "longarm" andncannot be carried, loaded, in a vehicle and yet, something as "dangerous" as an SBRed, full auto with a 100 round magazine was "lawfull" when carried with an LTCF.

And, he would be right. It's friggen retarded!
Oh, I caught the irony. Addressed it in the P.S.

The other thoughts were just runnin' round in my head and needed a release...

Correct me if I*m wrong, but a loaded M16/M4 SBR, should be illegal also, as it*s a rifle?

Negative. And SBR is not a rifle, it is a Short Barreled Rifle. And under PA law is is a "firearm" if the barrel is less than 16" or the OAL is less than 26".

A PA defined "firearm" is basically any gun under 26" OAL, any handgun with a barrel less than 15", any rifle with a barrel less than 16", or any shotgun with a barrel less than 18". ...which covers most Title I handguns, and all Title II SBR and SBS, and most Title II AOW, and some machineguns and destructive devices if their OAL or barrel length is less than PA's "firearm" dimensions.

No its a firearm, requiring a LTCF. Loaded in the vehicle and LTCF good to go.

Yeah, ain't it crazy that short barreled rifles and short barreled shotguns are not actually considered rifles and shotguns?
