TACTICAL Lever Guns - Purists AVERT THINE EYES!

I dunno. I’ve always considered lever guns to be kinda old school tactical.

To each his own I guess. It’s not really my thing but I don’t have any problem with it. Doesn’t even rise to the level of mockery or ridicule.

I don’t think it’s something I’d grab first to assault a well entrenched position, but you can do a good bit of damage in a short amount of time. Especially if you’re good with one.

My tactical reloads definitely need some work.

All leverguns have moved into the "rarified air" price range. $1000 & up for 357 mags, unless it's a Rossi. .22 lr leverguns in the same range as Ar15s, hell I just watched a Marlin 336 RC in .30-30 in good to very good condition, definately not a safe queen, go for $890 + s&h, tax & FFL fee. Ridiculous.

One of Costa's first instructions in the vid was telling the students to not wrap the strong hand thumb over the top tang of the receiver at the stock wrist so that they don't have to unwrap the thumb to work the lever. The rest of the vid, the class members had their strong hand thumbs over top of the stock wrist of their guns.

Paid right close attention, they did.

I dunno, the only rifle I ever had malfunction while hunting was a lever action. That is a lot of hours out there with dozens of different rifles.

Yeah well, it's a shame Ruger decided to go in that direction with the first run. I read the story about it and why they decided to go that way but that particular style is uninteresting to me. Hopefully Ruger gets their shit together on the lever guns.

I very much like leverguns, and own many, but I absolutely detest large loops on leverguns, and will not own one. Same for ported barrels on any firearm.

IMO, large loops are a Hollywood fabrication, period. They are awkward for actual shooting, and for fast manipulation of the lever while working the action. The strong hand "bangs around" the inside of the large loop like a broomstick in a bathtub. It can be painful.

For twirling the rifle one handed like a majorette to cycle a round into the chamber and cock the hammer, sure, it works fine with a ton of practice. But that's all for show.

Yeah, I could go with something "Medium". People making bad comments about about large loops probably are not hunters. Nothing like jacking that second round into a '99 Savage and having it go off because there is not enough room there.
