That means 20 million will produce about 2000 weapons? Or much less considering cost to tool up. One batallion?

Ooops. Forgot the ammo. Maybe arm a few companies with 20 million.

Finally after decades of going to war with a varmint cartridge they came up with a round with some balls. I thought they were going to pick something lame like the 6.8 SCP. This new ammo is insame and will give 7mm Mag performance from a case similar in size to a .308 (with the insanely high 80,000 psi chamber pressure). If the army can get everyone used to shooting a major caliber again this round will be extremely effective in combat.

the 6.8x51 or .277 fury is for the XM250 machine gun, the 6.8 LMG is for the XM5 carbine it seems. Way to be confusing as hell.

80,000 psi. Imagine shooting that indoors. Going to be a lot more deaf GIs.

Depends on what can they have on the end of them. I really like that they come with cans.

What do you think barrel life is going to be with those kinds of pressures? Throat erosion is going to be terrible.

[citation needed] but I was browsing the TFB comments. Someone said the bid spec called for 5000 round barrel life, and said the Sig was hitting 7000.

This actually upsets me. They get factory suppressors, yet I have to jump through dog and pony show to get mine. Before they had the m4, and I had the ar15. But now they have the XM5 and to get a civilian equivalent it's $8k and a form 4.
