Finally, got my hands on my last grail gun! I've been salivating over the Marlin 1894c in .357 magnum for several years, and today my wishes came true, thanks to another poofa member. I'll pair this with another of my grails, a S&W 586 no dash. Oddly enough, both guns were listed by members for their fathers.
(Not my actual gun, a stock photo.)

If it's the one I'm thinking of, was a great buy. Caught my eye but the distance would've made it tough to get

I believe it is the one you're thinking about, and I couldn't be happier.

Love my PD marked guns. This G17 not engraved but one of the Metro DC Police Gen 2's that had the serial number MPxxxxDC. Can't pass up one for a steal

And then this nice S&W Victory. Older guy was heading into some kind of home and couldn't bring guns so I got it. Said it was his fathers who brought it back from war.
I checked around on S&W forum and was told that many times what looks like tin foil under grips is fuselage material from a Jap Zero? And sweetheart grips carved from cockpit?
As I looked closer at the grips, what I thought were stress cracks looks like Japanese writing?
    Who knows, but sounds cool

That vertical string of marks could be kanji, yes.

    Very interesting!

    I agree about the kanji.

What would be the reason for the material under the grip?

Iirc, didn't Lee H Oswald use one of these to shoot Officer Tippit.

Definitely a keeper. A model with a long history.

It has a 1945 receiver, but the bolt, op-rod, and trigger are all early/mid war production. Barrel is a '53.

I also bought four boxes of surplus MKE .30-06 though now I'm reading that the surplus MKE stuff has a questionable reputation so I guess thats gonna go through my M1917 if I ever decide to shoot it.

    Nice
