Henry .44 Mag awful trigger
Just purchased my first ever Henry lever action awhile back. It's a model H012cc in .44 Magnum. Took it out to the range the other day. This rifle has to have the worst trigger of any lever action I've ever fired. Very heavy pull and very gritty. Since this is my first Henry is this normal for this brand rifle? Is this something I can expect to get better with more rounds down range or do I need to have it looked at? Put 20 rounds through it and it was difficult to consistently make decent shots at fifty yards. I'm very disappointed with this rifle and I paid a good bit for it. Appreciate any advice or help you may be able to offer. TIA.

Did you buy it new? If so, you could contact Henry and see what they say. They advertise on their website that they will make it right if you are not satisfied.

Henry is really good with customer satisfaction. Call Henry and talk to them. When I have issues they Always took care of the issue.
Contact Henry.I always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

Yup definitely get in touch with them. They're almost TOO good and will pretty much do anything to get you straightened out.

Re: Henry .44 Mag awful trigger
I just picked up a H012G .44 a couple weeks ago, fired maybe 75 rounds and have no issues.
I just now finished reading the Henry 25 magazine I picked up at the LGS where I made my purchase.
The sales guy was apologetic for not having ammo.
I told him I had better than 500 rounds ready for this rifle.
I put a Leupold 3x9 VX1 on it yesterday and put together 3 different loads to try.
100% guaranteed is what they say in many parts of the catalog.
Contact them. I believe they will make it right.Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

Re: Henry .44 Mag awful trigger
Thank you everyone for the replies and information. I think I'm going to take it out again for another try. If I get the same results a call to Henry Rifles support will be in my future. One way or another it sounds like I can get this resolved. Thanks again.

Re: Henry .44 Mag awful trigger
Update us on your course of action and Henry's CS if you call them.
Having one, I'd like to.know how they respond.
Edit to add. I just shot about 50 rounds thru my Henry.
I tried to feel the trigger due to the OPs post.
I don't have 100 rounds through it yet.
There is a very slight trigger take up before it breaks but not always. I believe it'll smooth out but it breaks crisply.
No complaints here. Accuracy isn't quite what I'd like yet but I'm still working some bullet / powder combos
