    Default Law enforcement legal question

    Hi All,

Good to be here !!!! CC since 1996. I didn't have anything proper to carry back then but still felt it worthy to exercise my rights lest we lose them.

I was recently involved in an incident where i drew my weapon on a neighbors dog while on my property. It's a large dog while mine is 17 pounds, he was moving fast, and I was unfamiliar with the dog.

I called the incident in. All said and done reporting officer asked me to produce my CCA (I did)

I got the police report two weeks later, it says I drew my gun, produced a CCP, and then goes on to state the expiration date of my permit.

Did he have the right to ask for my permit when It is agreed and known I was in the center of my property ? Even more odd, Why the expiration date on the police report ?

I hope this is the right place to ask.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Police can ask you anything, so yes, he had the right to ask for it. Do you need a CCP to carry on your own property, you do not. Having the expiration date on the report is just good policing, shows that he noticed it was valid.

Looks like you did everything right and it turned out okay.

My internet armchair lawyer (me) would say no, if open carrying. Did you tell him you were cc'ing?
Apparently you cant even cc on your own property, if you dont have a license to carry.
Other than that, I wouldn't have produced it. Sue me.

Well, 6106 says a LTCF is not needed when a person is carrying IN HIS PLACE OF ABODE. Does that include your back yard??

If I remember correctly CC does not include your curtilage without a LTCF.
We the people love our country so let the government fear us.

Law Enforcement can and will ask you to produce Identifications including LTCFs ! You were lucky, I had to dispatch an attacking dog in 2002 .No Charges at all and no Civil Charges but owner of dog was hammered !

You do if you're going to conceal a "firearm" outside of the physical structure of your "place of abode or fixed place of business." There is no exemption for unlicensed concealed carry while strolling around outdoors on your own property. Discovery and prosecution is highly unlikely, but that's not the same as "legal".

Nope. Arguably, it doesn't even include your unenclosed front porch.

The appellate courts don't think we should have guns at all, so when they interpret gun statutes, it tends to go against us. Like when they decided that a Pennsylvania resident is not a "person".

Why did you call the police?
To beat the dog from reporting that you tried to kill him?

Did a human see this happen?
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
