Carry a bigger gun to soak up the recoil.

Older all-metal Ruger P series pistols are built like tanks and are easy on the hands

Not big on pocket carry, went with the P365XL in a crossbreed mini tuck; works for me.

My carry pistol was a ruger p89 until i replaced it with the ruger 57. Both super great guns, the p89 was my first hand gun i bought at age 21, thousands upon thousands of rounds through it and it hasn't let me down once. I keep it mounted on the side of my filing cabinet above my monitors.

The ruger 57 shoots my favorite caliber, 5.7x28mm, super fast, super small projectile with virtually no recoil that does incredibly damage. The only down side is it is a bit on the expensive side.

Carry the biggest pistol that you can fit in your lifestyle.
9mm is really about perfect in every way.
Shoot a bunch of pistols, pick what works.
Train a lot with whatever you choose, run it on a timer. Practice drawing from concealment. Train doing the hard things that people avoid at the range.

    Profit
