I listened to the message, yeah, its a scam.
Some lady tried to scam my neighbor at church last week, she wanted to follow her home to get some money.
Now the church put out a psa about it because the same woman has been trying to scam other parishioners.
I've had that too. Quickly checked my accounts with him on the phone to confirm it was a scam.

Kept the fucker on the line for 20+ minutes pretending to be retarded but playing along just enough. At the end it divulged into a "fuck your mother" battle.

Lately I've taken to answering unknown calls with a "whoodat?" then lapsing to silence with the ball in their court. They usually quickly hang up. One nice-sounding female voice said "goodbye" and disconnected. I may have played that one wrong.

I answer my family members land lines, (99.9% scams & charities), with a:
"County Communications Center. what is your emergency?"

If they are stupid enough to stay on and start their scripted message, I repeat the above. If that doesn't do it, I ask them to remove "this emergency phone number for EHS and police" from their call list.

Wife answered a call asking for me by my first name. Phone had already announced spam probable. She said "one of your doctors".

Female, Hi how are you this is so and so. Doctor Oz will be (unintelligible). Meanwhile I am silent since Hello. Silence lasted for about six seconds and she hung up, just as I was about to say "there must be a storm between me and your island. Lotsa static."

I get the phone scammers/telemarketeers just about daily but can tell by the phone number that pops up on the TV or what is shown on the phone (be it the home or shop phone), and depending on how I feel, I may answer and screw with them for as long as I can before they finally catch on and hang up. I had one guy on the line for 20 minutes (I was bored and didn't have anything better to do - wife asked what I was doing and I said, and he was still on the line and could hear me, "Screwing with a scammer long enough to trace his call so I can call the police") and then I heard the "CLICK" LOL.

Sort of the same, had a guy respond to one of my WTS ads here, said that he could get what I am selling cheaper on the internet and if I'd drop my price by $200 (I'm selling for $450 shipped) he'd buy it. I responded "If you can find exactly what I am selling, with the accessories I'm including for cheaper than I am offering, you are STUPID to be responding to my ad, go troll somewhere else" Checked him out, been on the forum for over 10 years, - 0, yes ZERO posts, probably only looks at the ads to see who he can low ball/scam/whatever.
