Your starting off great with a Britt! They are NOT spaniels they are setters that point and retrieve. They will flush and most of the stocked birds run anyway.. The biggest thing is to learn to read and follow you dog. As said before they know far more than you. That time when you get to thinking "what's that damn dog doing over there" is the time you'd better be getting there and be ready. I can't tell you how many times that has happened to me.

Look into joining a local NAVHDA chapter. They can really help with dog training and will also be a good source of all manner of upland hunting information. Now is the perfect time to join. Enjoy.
