Wallet holster question legality
Didn't want to NECRO an old thread incase the laws have changed.
Years ago, I remember hearing that a certain type of wallet holster was illegal. I can't remember what the deal was that made it illegal. Perhaps it was just an opinion that they were a bad idea, or my memory sucks. Today the subject of wallet holsters came up with an old friend, so I am looking into it. He owns one, not me.
Thanks!Aggies Coach Really ??? Take off the tin foil bro.

Re: Wallet holster question legality
I can't think of anything in PA law that would make them illegal...unless you're without an LTCF.

Check out post #8 on this site- https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49909
In short, it has to do with being able to fire the gun while it in the holster that makes it problematic. Not all wallet holsters are so designed.

I remember something along those lines as well. I remember it being a federal thing, like atf issued a "rule" that wallet holsters were forbidden. It centered around the old Histandard derringer; I think.

Re: Wallet holster question legality
It has to do with the NFA and AOW definition. The wallet holster in question allowed the gun to look like wallet and be fired - a disguised firearm.
The law has not changed on that matter, and likely will never change.
You can have a wallet holster, but for it to be legal, the firearm cannot be able to be fired in a disguised condition.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Something like the Sneaky Pete does not fall into AOW territory, clearly. There's an ad for them in every gun rag out there.

Sounds ridiculous to me.
Using the same logic, if you conceal the gun in your car (the wallet), you're now in violation, since you could fire the gun while still concealed in your car.

Re: Wallet holster question legality
There was an AMT .380 that had a wallet holster you could draw and fire. To legally carry it you had to go the AOW route. Because it concealed the handgun completely and you could fire it, it was treated like a cane gun or other hidden type firearm. It was made by Galco. There is one on Ebay now.
