    Post Is this brand new or used?

    Hello,
    I was looking at a full size M&P 9mm m2.0. The dealer said it was brand new. But looking at where the firing pin is, there are some stains/marks there, which look like dirt in this picture. I wanted to know if these are the signs of a used item? Any idea? I would appreciate your reply.

    Firearms are test fired before leaving the factory. That looks to me like the markings left by the brass after the test firing. I wouldn't worry about it.

    Going by the slide rails and underside - I'd say brand new.

    I don't see any wear of the finish.

    Factories tend to do a test fire. Not sure if any are still providing fire cases for MD(and/or NY) law. And some countries require full proof loads to fired before they can be imported(European countries are high on that criteria).

    If it was used, it was used very minimally. Like a mag or less. Most likely a test fire. Does it really matter?

    I know some places shoot 3. Others only one. Don't know for certain. Could email them if you really want to know.
