Hope you can get it sorted. I myself could never warm up to them on a hand gun.

Index is incredibly important with a dot on a pistol. You’re trying to relearn the iron sight draw that is ingrained in you. But it’s now amplified.

This may only be part of it. Shoot it and see where the thing hits. You may just need to adjust it. Or tighten stuff down.

    G17 MOS sight picture.jpg

Here is the sight picture from the G17 MOS. This is after I adjusted the red dot at 25 yards off of a sandbag. This is what had me worried. I expected the Staccato to have a sight picture that roughly resembled this.

I guess I will try the following:

    1. Turn off red dot and check where the Irons are grouping.
    2. Turn on red dot and see where the impacts are.
    3. See if i can get the red dot sighted in without bottoming our screws.
    4. Upload a picture of where the dot sits on the glass with respect to the irons.

I will take the dot and the plate out today and check to make sure that there are no obstructions, etc. on any of the mating surfaces and tighten everything back down.

Can anyone let me know if there is anything specific i should be looking at while at the range?

Make sure the plate is flat too. And fits flat without fitting. It could be sloped. I’ve heard of warped plates

The plate sure as shit didn't fit flat. it only flattened out after i screwed it in. Should i call C&H Precision and ask them?

In my experience, such calls don't do any good. I'd just be thankful it was that simple a fix and go elsewhere next time.

Certainly sounds like a bad mount. Shoot the irons and sight them in. Get a mount that fits and remount the dot. Adjust the dot on top of the irons. Shoot and confirm / fine tune the dot.

Finally got around to shooting it.

Red dot was fine and holds a Zero without any issues.

The front sight was the standard height sight that came with the gun and rear sight was the one that came with the mounting plate from C&H Precision. It was supposed to be used with a raised front sight and I had no idea.

I need to find the correct height front sight so that i can use the irons from the mounting plate properly. As it stands, i am shooting and entire 18 inches low at 10 yards with the current irons combo.

Thank you for all the advice here.

No you don’t. The coindex of irons and dot is a ridiculous thing to bother with. The whole point of the dot goes out the window. I don’t have a front sight on either of my carry optic guns and on my daily carry gun I don’t even notice it or want to.

If the Dot dies on me, I still need a working set of irons. Maybe its my mindset Nate but not having backup irons would freak me out.
