Default The Return of the FN High Power

I think I'd still go with the new Springfield SA-35 due to the price difference. What say you?

I had a couple (2) fn hi-powers years ago. Theyre one of my favorites and I have put the springfield on my list. The springer looks true to the original, something about the FNs doesnt look right. I myself would stick with the springer too

It's a re-imaged Hi-Power. They've changed the ergos and added weight. The gun looks odd compared to the original or even the clones like Springfield. Also, if this is an updated Hi-Power, where's the optics mount and picatinny rail, lol? Would sooner buy an SA-35 with an ambi safety (if they ever offer one).

It's no HiPower. They're just capitalizing on the model name.

Dunno about the FN Hi-Power, but regarding the Turkish clones and the Springfield SA-35 in particular, if one disassembles a SA-35, a Girsan MC P35, or a Tisas BR-9 one will find they are identical to an "original" BHP. These Turkish (the SA-35 parts are Turkish-sourced and assembled and finished by SA) Hi-Powers are not BHPs the same way a Rock Island 1911 isn't a Colt 1911 - in name only.

I found a new SA-35 at a semi-local dealer for $699 OTD (Yep, I was surprised) and bought it because it had a crisp break to the trigger with no creep. I tried exchanging parts with an actual BHP Mark III and an Argentine FM "Hi-Power" and the small bits I tried interchanged and functioned, such as the slide stop, trigger, hammer & spring assemblies, sear, safety, and barrels. The SA-35 slide fit and functioned on the BHP Mk III frame, but the Mk III slide did not clear the SA-35 dust cover at the front. The Argie FM slide does not interchange with either the BHP or the SA-35, or vice-versa.

Ronin: The ambi safety from my BHP Mk III installed and functioned perfectly in the SA-35, so I would guess that any commercial ambi safety (C&S, etc) would probably fit the SA-35. The right grip panel cleared the BHP ambi lever just fine, no interference.

The new FN ones are way pricer and look weird.

The Springfield looks right and has a right price.

The Girsan I know is about the same thing but looks cheap compared to the Springfield. Would rather spend the extra on the Springfield.
