I'm with Jen on this one. You're adding failure points to something that you need to be functional in a high-stress situation where you *maybe* have seconds to react. I'll never own one of these.

So they design something for a market that doesn't exist. Sounds like a great business plan, --- to fail .

A gun designed to fire for only a select few has the potential of costing lives in unforeseen circumstances involving others.

As for non-existent market, I think PRNJ has created a future market. When all other options are eliminated, it will be the sole source of gun ownership.

It may have an unexpected, ironic result....very safe guns (as viewed by the courts) may force PRNJ to ease up on its unconstitutional laws.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Just wait until OEMs capitalize on the technology and program their firearms to only work with OEM accessories.

My pistols are already smart, they know who to shoot and who not to.

Wait until the government starts installing software that with the flick of a switch makes the guns inoperable.

It was on tonight's TV news. The inventor is in Radnor. I think he set up a Glock 17 requiring a pass code via small buttons, and a fingerprint scanner/reader. It is expected to be on the market in 2023.

Once the gun is available, PRNJ is perched to stop any non-smart gun from coming into the state.

Edited to correct: In 2019 NJ repealed the requirement that its dealers sell smart guns, because the law had unexpected consequences...ironically....it was actually preventing the marketing of a smart gun. No one wanted to be the one who caused the collapse of PRNJ citizens' right to bear (reliable) arms. So far, the fire-prevention systems have been shown to be hackable and defeatable, not to mention battery-operated electronics failure possibilities.
