Great. Another calibre that you won't be able to find ammo for. No thanks.

Just imagine how many rounds of 25acp or 32acp you could get in a full size glock.....

Which is the whole point of dropping a new gimmick caliber right now.

So it's what .327 Magnum would be in a rimless case. Interesting concept, but would sooner see more guns chambered in something like 7.62 Tok or .22 TCM9r, along with more supply and less expensive ammo for both.

    .22 TCM9r

    Where did that ever go?
Seemed like it'd be something cool, then poof. Ghost.

5.7 x 28 is far superior to this with faster bullet velocity and around the same energy load. If my Five Seven was a little more compact it would likely be my daily carry. Standard magazine holds 20 + 1 and the 30 round mags aren't much of an extension and it's super light. This round has the same disadvantage though, if it's a niche round it's going to be tough to find and costly.

An answer to a question no one asked. They are selling all established calibers faster than they can make them and now they are wanting to sell a cartridge there is no gun for. Marketing genius I tell you.

Federal repeats its own history. Yinz all remember the 9mm Federal, right? Neither do I, so let's review:

    9mm Federal

In the late 1980*s the Quebec City Police Department (QCPD) standard issued handgun was the .38 revolver. They were not satisfied with the performance of the .38 special, so they sought a more powerful caliber. During this time many law enforcement agencies began adopting the 9mm Luger as their standard caliber, which is a rimless cartridge designed to operate in a semi-automatic pistol. Not wanting to abandon the revolvers the QCPD wanted the 9mm Luger, so Federal solved the problem by creating a rimmed 9mm for them. Hence, the 9mm Federal came into existence.

After several years the QCPD retired their revolvers and went to semi-automatic pistols and the 9mm Federal slowly went away in the early 2000*s. Charter Arms and several other manufactures made the 9mm Federal revolvers, but ammunition is become hard to find. The 9mm Federal can propel a 115 gr. .335 in. dia. bullet at 1,280 fps with 420 ft.-lbs. of energy.

Essentially, the 9mm Federal is to the 9x19 as 45 Auto Rim is to 45 ACP.

IMO, it is not a question of if the 30 Super will be discontinued into cartridge oblivion, but when. The .327 Federal Magnum is on its own way down that path.

That was my first thought too when I heard .30 cal.
