ATF says FFLs must sell safe storage devices

This is nothing new. FFLs have been required to have these available for years. I had an overzealous ATF inspector ask me if I had them. I said "Look at the bins on the counter; they're full of them." He then asked me if I required my purchasers to take them. I informed him the regulation was only that I have the locks available and that I offer one with each firearm. I told him many people don't want them and leave them here; hence the locks with various brand names on them. I mentioned "This is one of the few instances where people don't want a free something." He was clearly puzzled at that.

I occasionally use them for various gun or non gun related things. But you really only need a couple, then you get a safe or safes. I'm sure very few people with sizeable collections have each locked up with a cable lock. If you have kids, that's a good idea. But if you have the means for a sizeable collection, you have the means for a decent safe.
