New-Old Car Jacking Trick now fashionable again
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man has been charged after police say he tricked a driver to steal his car, then led officers on a chase before ramming into a state trooper’s vehicle on Christmas Day.
Just before noon on Dec. 25, a West Goshen police officer responded to a report of a “suspicious person” on North Five Points Road, near Fern Hill Road, in Chester County.
The victim told officers that a man was lying in the road, so he stopped and got out of his car to see if the man was OK. Then, officials say, the man jumped up, got in the Samaritan’s car and sped away.

Been seeing some Bump & Robs also, where they bump your car from the rear and when you get out to check for damage, they do what they do.

Seems like this method of carjack is a bit risky. With all the inattentive drivers these days, one could easily get run over, or so we could hope.

On a 2015 Ford with Intelligent Access Ignition using a FOB and push button start, the vehicle could be restarted without the FOB for about a minute after being shut off.
Doesn't answer your question, but it is a feature that could have unintended consequences and I am not fond of.
