PICS Delayed me. My first time ever since PICS went online.
This is more of a complain and whine thread. I got delayed picking up two J-Frame revolvers that arrived today that I had to order. So on top of shipping time and such, I get delayed by the PSP. My FFL says the system has been slow lately. I guess it is that happy time of the year. While watching the screen, the delay time went from "in excess of 2 hours " to "in excess of 3 hours". There's a maybe in front of all that. Even so, it kind of put a damper on my day.
Has anyone else been hit by delays this week? How long do they normally last? As I said in my title, I've never been hit with a delay before. My FFL says they are pretty common. He's going to text me when the status changes to approved (no reason why it shouldn't). It's just another trip I have to make in holiday traffic. It's getting crazy out there!
Thanks for your time.

I'm fortunate enough to live reasonably close to my FFL. I'm used to PICS approval coming through before I've finished filling out my ATF-4473. This caught me by surprise.

Been lucky I guess, but 80% of the time I'm in and out. Once was an hour and a half, but that was in June 2020 when everyone was buying. A few times have been 30-40 minutes. I try to go at times when others might not be as likely to though (Monday or Tuesday nights, for example), so that helps I guess.

Last two that I bought were done in under a minute.

Mine always go to operator, and the last PICS check(a couple months ago) cleared after the dealer went home for the evening. They called me the next morning to let me know the approval # came through.
He used the online PICS check instead of the phone call.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515
