    thanks.

as for social media, i could see mmmaaayyybeee a sheriff's denial for not being recommended 'to be of good character or reputation', but even then, it seems to be a huge bar to overcome.

mine was PICS related, so not a sheriff denial from what i understand.

Call Phil Kline (gunlawyer001). I think he charges a couple of bills for a good faith background check.

I wouldn't say my name is common - but i wouldn't consider it to be uncommon. UJS portal has 155 criminal hits with my name (not matching middle) since 1980. yes, one of those is mine, it was a summary offence from 2005. i made sure to check against the list of offenses that would disqualify me. it doesn't, or at least it shouldn't (it was a noise complaint from a party).

there's nothing else that could have had me go from qualified to disqualified in the last five years. my hope is that i'm getting mixed up with someone else - even though i provided my social. if that's not the case, i have no idea what the problem is and i don't have the money to fix their error.
Yeah, had no idea there are so many other dudes walking around with my name till I signed up for FB years ago. Turns-out there's like a gillion of us and that's not including close variations.

if variations are a thing, then there are a lot more people with my 'near' name in UJS... 123 records on or after 12/14/2016. 49 records are exact name, notwithstanding middle name/initial.

    That’s nuts.

I could see it if your name was “John Smith” or something like that, but “Gman106”?

    Who woulda thought?

There was a guy at Merck who not only shares my last name but he has a son with my first name.

I agree. Personally, I wouldn't mess with this. It has the potential to go really sideways if you don't do things correctly or screw something up inadvertently and might result in you losing your CCW rights forever. Also, a lawyer acting on your behalf separates you from the dozens of other peons out there who can get pushed to the side with relative impunity. Call Phil and pay him to handle it for you.

I have learned in life to do what I'm good at myself and to pay an expert to do what I'm not good at. Avoids a lot of problems in the long term and saves me a lot of inefficiency and wasted effort trying to learn on the fly what someone else already knows and can do better than me!
