Default Phila to Maine with Firearms

We’re heading up to Bar Harbor Maine next week and need to figure out the firearm regulations before we leave. From what I understand, Maine is constitutional carry while NY and Connecticut do not allow out of state permits. I have a Florida permit and the wife has Florida/Pa. Our plan is to keep everything locked up and separate until we hit Maine but we’re not sure about ammunition and high capacity magazines.
Hollow points are illegal in Ny but what about passing through the state? I’m going to assume NO but would like to know just to know. The plan with ammo was just to travel with FMJ or hard cast. What about magazines? Should we also avoid high capacity and just bring revolvers?

We have a few apps and a current travelers guide to firearms with us but with the way laws change I’d like to be as current as possible before we head out.

    Thanks,

Im pretty sure that JHP's are solely a New Jersey thing. I made the same trip from New Jersey 2 years ago. I only stopped for gas.

I don't think Maine has mag restrictions. I believe there are some limitations on carry in Maine in state parks.

FOPA is an affirmative defense but you still may be arrested if stopped in NY and found in possession of a firearm. I'm sure Jersey is the same or worse. Good luck.

While Maine has constitutional carry you need a permit to carry in Maine state parks and Acadia NP. At least time I checked 5 years ago.

Sticks and stones will break my bones but hollow points expand on impact.

How did we get to a point where we’re relying more on luck than our nations constitution? 🤡🙄🤣

    Short, but to the point.

No JHP if passing through NJ (Hornady Critical Defense isn't considered JHP by NJ rules)
No magazines >10 rounds in several states (not protected by FOPA)
Get a Maine permit for state parks in-state.
    Don't stay overnight....anywhere
Preferably don't even stop for gas!
