Default Long Range Sight In and Break In

Any recommendations for locations long range sight and general practice. Will be headed out west next year and want to be proficient at 200-400 yards.

Are the game land ranges any good? Looking in SE Pa or Pocono area.

I didn't think the state ranges were that long.

I know there are some clubs in Berks county that have 200 plus ranges. Not sure if you want to drive that far but I would look at them.

University range was recommended a few days ago, somewhere near Reading I think. New Holland has a long one too if I recall correctly. Both obviously a little drive, but not half a state away either.

Here is a link to the gamelands range locations and distances. There is a few in the State that go out to 300 yards, but they're few and far between. https://www.pgc.pa.gov/HuntTrap/Stat...s/default.aspx

the PGC range at Jim Thorpe at SGL 141 of Rt 93 has a 1,2,& 300 yard rifle range Been a few years since I've been there, but was generally not crowded while I was there. Pretty sure SGL 230 at Carlisle on Rt 944 ( enola rd) has a similar set up to 300 yards

I am sure you are aware, reading ballistic tables is cool, but NEVER a substitute for real range time. In other words, don't sight in at an inch high or inch and a half high at 200 yards and expect your particular load to land on a target at 400 yards wherever a chart says it will. You just have to go out and shoot. Crosswind will obviously play a large role in where you end up at distances like 400 yards...
