Default can i legally purchase a gun?

I'm 18 years old, living in Malvern, but have a Colorado drivers license, and I was wondering whether or not I would legally be allowed to purchase a firearm. i know i cannot purchase hand guns until the age of 21, but i was looking into purchasing a decent military surplus rifle of some kind (possibly a Mosin Nagant)

    and information is greatly appreciated

You can purchase long guns while in Pa., provided they are legal in your state of residence.

You're correct about handguns. Handguns can be purchased at 18, but they have to transferred trough a sheriff's office and you have to be a resident.
Handguns for non reisdents must be transferred through an FFL in your home state and the FED law prohibits FFL's from transferring to under 21 yr olds.

I'd look into this further if I were you. You are a fulltime student, but are you considered a permanent PA resident? That's the question I'd ask if I were you. I don't know the answer for sure but I'm thinking the answer would be no because your DL shows your permanent address being in Colorado, not PA correct?

For long guns it does not matter

As long as they are purchased from an FFL. It's illegal to purchase long guns FTF unless the buyer and seller are both residents of the same or adjoining states, unless the sale is done through an FFL.

Same or adjoining state. Any other FTF would have to be done at a FFL for papered transfer.
