PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 19-year-old from Bucks County, Pennsylvania has been charged for a hit and run during an alleged street race in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia that left a man dead.

Joseph Vannauker, of Levittown, is charged with murder, homicide by vehicle and reckless driving.

A 16-year-old passenger in the blue Dodge Charger that Vannauker was driving was initially taken into custody by police but has since been released to his parents.



"The pedestrian that was struck by that blue Dodge Charger and was hit while that vehicle was traveling at a very, very, high rate of speed," said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "It launched the body in an eastbound direction. The victim was knocked out of both of his sneakers."

RIO GRANDE * A threatening phone call to a Wawa lead police to close the store and arrest two Pennsylvania men June 19.
In the early morning, around 4:30 a.m., police were called to the Wawa in Rio Grande. Someone had called, claiming they planned to shoot everyone in the store with an AR57, police said.

Matthew Goldstein, 18, of Feasterville, Penn. And Joseph Vannauker, 18, of Levittown, Penn. were arrested in West Wildwood.
They were both charged with false public alarm, conspiracy and terroristic threats. The investigation revealed no weapons available to the subjects.

The incident occurred Saturday at 9:06 p.m. along the 100 block of South Independence Mall East in Old City.

A high-ranking law enforcement source told NBC10 an unidentified man who was driving in the area was involved in a road rage dispute with a group of dirt bike riders. The dirt bike riders surrounded the man's vehicle near Independence Mall between the 500 and 600 block of Chestnut Street, the source said.

The driver of the car, who has a permit to carry, then pulled out a gun and opened fire, shooting one of the dirt bike riders, a 29-year-old man, twice in the torso, according to the source.
