The Rekieta lawyers went line by line through the TX statue for lethal force self defense. When I stopped watching they were leaning self defense given castle doctrine. And it was a stretch getting to that.

Local news report shows the incident from another camera angle and states the police have not charged or arrested the shooter at this time.

The more I watch the video and read the Yexasaws the more I think the shooter is going to prison

Texas law specifically forbids the court from trying to determine if the shooter had the ability to flee the situation. I think that is basically a stand your ground law. It doesn't matter if you CAN flee. You don't have to.

BUT! The shooter DID flee. He went inside. The fleeing was complete. He fled, and I would think that is basically waiving the right to stand your ground.

By going back to the fight after fleeing he was no longer standing his ground. He became the agressor who escalated the level of force.

Regardless of what the law says, the shooter was completely in the wrong morally. Every single thing he did was wrong.

And after reading the entire story it sounds like literally everyone involved was morally wrong. The shooter, the dead guy, the ex wife. The new wife. All of them. They were all having a pissing contest with each other and using minor children as the weapon.
