My idea of camping is at a Comfort Inn ! Sounds a lot cheaper than cost of RV,expenses,Gas etc !Good luck with your reconsidered choices !

It all depends on the location you're going to as well, this past summer we went up near Roulette which is an area of PA that is nothing but state parks after state parks. Hotels put us way further than the area we wanted to stay and were around $200-250/night since the selection wasn't high. Our motorhome gets around 10-12mpg so it was around 200 miles round trip or $60 in gas (at the time) + $80 for the camp site with full hookups, outdoor heated swimming pool etc.

I figure for that weekend it worked out to $140 vs $400-500 to stay at a hotel. That's not counting the gas I'd have used if we took the truck and also eating out vs. taking food with us and cooking in the motorhome. Added perks include taking our dogs with us and not worrying about hotels that allow pets too.

Gas is an expense either way if you take a camper or drive a vehicle. Granted if you have a high MPG vehicle costs could work in your favor but it still costs you money to get from point a to point b.
