    Default Confused

I looked up reloading data for 9mm Luger, now I'm more confused than ever. I use bull's-eye powder and have 124 grain projectiles. Can somebody tell me a powder weight I should start at ?

Sierra App shows max 4.1gr. There may not be a single right answer, which is why most standard convention is to start with 10% or more under max and work up towards max or an accuracy point that the load exhibits in your firearm.

The Speer reloading manual has a starting load of 3.9 and max load of 4.4 for Speer 124 gr projectiles. My older Hornady manual has 4.1 as a starter load with a maximum 4.4 and the newest Hornady manual doesn't list Bullseye for 124gr projectiles. If I were loading for the 9mm I would start at 3.9gr. The Speer manual has been very reliable for me when I reload for 45acp. Bullseye is a very fast burning powder.

My old dog-earred Speer #14 says 3.9 to 4.4 for Bullseye and all of their 124 gr bullets.but pay attention to the COAL. The RN is 1.135" and the other 2 are 1.120".

FWIW Sierra App isn't wrong with their starting load at 4.1, since it is about at half the range Speer shows.

My Sierra 5th Ed. Manual shows Bullseye with Sierra's 125 gr and 130 gr. bullets with 3.5 gr and running up to 4.4 as max. BUT COAL are vastly different! 1.090" for the 125 gr FMJ RN 1.075" for the JHP and 1.135" for the 130 gr FMJ RN.
